ALLI DONDE EMPIEZAN LOS CAMINOS - WHERE IT ALL STARTS

Madrid, recién estrenada la década de los ochenta del siglo pasado.
Yo quería ser diseñadora .
Eran escasas y poco convincentes las opciones para estudiar eso que aún sonaba medio raro.
Las probé y no me pareció que con aquello fuera a ninguna parte.Pocas también las revistas de moda : sólo recuerdo Hogar y Moda y Dunia.
Me lancé al ruedo. Ser modelo me parecía más accesible, una puerta de entrada a ese mundo.

Sin saberlo ( aún aquello no tenía nombre para mí) , me encargaba del estilismo de mis fotos. Aún estaba en el aire la estética post- punk.

Duré poco como modelo : un par de años. En ese momento, yo era " muy especial " , eufemismo para decir " más bien rarita" , poco comercial.

Aún así, participé en una de las primeras pasarelas nacionales ( Moda del Sol) .
También posé y desfilé para algunos de los mejores diseñadores y fotógrafos del momento : Manuel Piña, Antonio Alvarado, Reg Corkum, Pepe Botella, Nacho Pinedo...

Fueron varias las personas que me ayudaron al comienzo, algunas son amigas a día de hoy.
Dominique Mirambeau ( quién me presentó a Carlos Mundy, quién por aquel entonces tenía la agencia International Bookings, en Madrid), Carlos Uralde , quién me hizo muchas de mis primerísimas fotos... a Carlos le he perdido la pista.

Madrid, the early eighties. I wanted to be a fashion designer. There wer hardly any fashion
magazines in Spain in those days. I remember Dunia and Hogar y Moda. The options for studying fashion design were also few and unconvincing. I tried them and did not think they would take me very far.
So, I started modelling. It seemed a way to gain access into the fashion world.

I used to do my own styling before I knew the meaning of the word. I was at the time influenced by post- punk aesthetics.

I did not last very long as a model ( a couple of years). At the time I was considered " very special " meaning a bit weird and definetely un- commercial.

Nevertheless, I took part in the very first spanish catwalk ( Moda del Sol) and worked for some of the best photographers and fashion designers of the time : Manuel Piña, Antonio Alvarado, Reg Corkum, Pepe Botella, Nacho Pinedo.

Several people helped me in those esrly days. Some are still friends, like Dominique Mirambeau, who introduced me to Carlos Mundy, owner of International Models , Carlos Uralde , who took most of my very first pictures.
